Coal ministry developing logistics policy for the sector

In order to lower logistics expenses, the coal ministry is creating a national coal evacuation strategy and a logistics policy for the industry, according to a statement released on Saturday. According to the statement, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) called the inter-ministerial conference to examine the status of the national logistics policy's implementation.

The commerce and industry ministry stated that during the conference initiatives done by several ministries to increase logistical efficiency in the nation were also displayed.

The ministry of coal has created a draft coal logistic policy and a national coal evacuation plan. Additionally, standardization of physical assets (large earthmovers for handling coal) and the establishment of quality management benchmarks are in the works, according to the statement.
