Full body scanners to deployed in phased manner at airports

According to BCAS chief Zulfiquar Hasan, full body scanners will be introduced to airports gradually, and the procedure is anticipated to begin at major airports within a year. Hasan also emphasized that there will not be any privacy concerns because those have already been resolved globally. In case travelers with health difficulties are unable to utilize such scanners, he added that there will be other solutions available.

The installation of full body scanners at airports must be completed by the end of the year, according to the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

At a conference in the nation's capital, Hasan stated that although BCAS had set a deadline, there were problems with the procurement cycle because airport operators worldwide purchased this equipment from the same two or three manufacturers.

In the beginning, full body scanners would be installed in busy airports like those in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi.
