RAPIDX trains hit 160 kmph, public launch nears

In a significant development, RAPIDX trains have initiated high-speed tests, achieving an impressive 160 kmph on the Sahibabad to Duhai depot route. This breakthrough comes as a crucial step in the upcoming Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor project. With the aim of launching services soon, these trials are instrumental in identifying and resolving any technical issues.

Managed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the tests mirror actual operations and run from 6 am to 11 pm, commencing at the Duhai depot. This effort ensures a seamless launch of the priority section, which spans 17 km and encompasses five stations - Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot.

Public access to the full 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor is slated for 2025, offering a swift 60-minute commute from Delhi to Meerut with trains operating every 5-10 minutes. The priority section, having received operational clearance from the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety and Ministry of Railways, showcases RAPIDX's sleek design and remarkable speed of up to 180 kmph.

The Duhai depot forms the core of RAPIDX operations, housing ten train sets and essential facilities like stabling lines, workshops, and an inspection bay. Committed to environmental sustainability, the depot integrates a solar power plant. Prior to departure, thorough checks ensure the train's fitness, encompassing interior equipment and exterior elements. Operational centres at the depot bolster commuter safety and manage disruptions effectively.

RAPIDX's progress also encompasses two additional corridors, reflecting NCRTC's dedication to establishing efficient and environmentally friendly connectivity across the region.
