CUMI & ideaForge collaborate for advanced drones

CUMI, an innovative organisation specialising in material sciences and a division of the Murugappa Group with a history spanning 120 years, had entered into a collaborative arrangement with ideaForge Technology, a leading drone producer in India. Their joint objective was the advancement of cutting-edge composite parts for drones, utilising nanomaterial reinforcement.
CUMI's expertise lies in the domain of nanomaterial-reinforced composite materials, including polymers enhanced with substances like graphene. These materials hold the potential to revolutionise the construction of structural components used in aerospace applications.
Back in March, CUMI had made public a "Licensing Agreement for Transfer of Technology" (LAToT) that had been established with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The purpose of this agreement was to facilitate the production of ceramic radomes intended for use in aerospace and missile systems.
Ceramic radome technology is recognised globally as an indispensable, state-of-the-art advancement for ballistic and tactical missiles, as well as high-performance aircraft. Given that missiles encounter extreme surface temperatures both during their atmospheric trajectory and re-entry from space, the radomes positioned at the tip of these missiles are constructed from ceramic materials to withstand these temperature fluctuations.
