DFCCIL Chairman expects 90% DFC completion by year-end.

During the Dedicated Freight Corridor Commission India Ltd. (DFCCIL) Chief General Managers Conference, A.K. Lahoti, Railway Board Chairman and CEO, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) construction. Currently, 77.2% (2,196 km) of the DFC has been commissioned, and Lahoti anticipates that 90% will be completed by the year's end. The DFC currently accommodates nearly 200 freight trains daily, a number projected to rise substantially. Lahoti emphasized leveraging the Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal (GCT) policy to maximize GCTs along the alignment. Safety and asset maintenance were highlighted as top priorities, urging Chief General Managers to conduct thorough inspections to preserve the state-of-the-art technology used.

DFCCIL Managing Director Ravindra Kumar Jain and Railway Board PED (Infra) Mukul Saran Mathur also addressed the gathering. Notably, Jain previously stated that over 90% of DFC tracks would be operational by June 2023. The conference featured comprehensive performance evaluations and discussions on innovation within field units. The DFC plays a crucial role in executing the National Logistics Policy and expanding freight infrastructure capacity—an essential component in achieving Indian Railways' 3000 million tons of goods loading target by 2030.
