Government greenlights IT Park in Derebail, Mangaluru

Minister of Health and Family Welfare, as well as the District Minister for Dakshina Kannada, Dinesh Gundu Rao, has announced the government's approval for the establishment of an IT park in Derebail within the city.

This project will span more than three acres of land and will be executed in partnership with the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation (KEONICS) under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Minister Rao stated that a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the project will be prepared within the next two months.

"The state government has granted its consent to establish the IT park under the PPP model. Additionally, we are exploring the possibility of extending the PPP term from the initial 30 years to a more extensive 60-year duration for this project," he mentioned.

Regarding the proposed zoning regulations for Mangaluru city's Master Plan, Minister Rao informed that he has instructed the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the amendments and recommendations put forth by the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (Muda).

"We anticipate finalising a draft of the zoning regulations following consultations with the district in-charge secretary in the near future," he added.

Furthermore, Minister Rao revealed plans to release new tenders for the shops developed by the Mangaluru Smart City Limited on Kadri Park Road, with modifications to the existing conditions.
