One side of Kashedi Ghat Tunnel on Mumbai-Goa Highway opens

In anticipation of Ganeshotsav, travellers heading to the Konkan area from Mumbai will benefit from a time-saving of approximately one hour, as one side of the crucial Kashedi Ghat tunnel on the Mumbai-Goa highway has been opened to traffic.

Furthermore, approximately 90% of the concreting work on the Goa-bound single lane has been completed. Maharashtra PWD Minister Ravindra Chavhan made these announcements after overseeing the ongoing work on the highway and inaugurating the one-side tunnel.

Previously, motorists would spend 45 minutes crossing the Kashedi Ghat section between Bhogav in Poladpur taluka of Raigad district and Kashedi in Khed taluka of Ratnagiri district. However, with the introduction of the new 2-kilometre tunnel, travellers can cover the same distance in just 10 minutes, according to a PWD statement.
