Flash floods sweep away Jammu-Rajouri highway culvert

Flash floods, which were triggered by overnight rainfall, resulted in the washing away of a temporary culvert on the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch national highway. As a consequence of this event, traffic on the highway had to be suspended, and vehicles were rerouted through alternative routes, namely, Beri-Pattan-Sunderbani and Kalakote.
The closure of the main highway, caused by ongoing bridge construction at Rajal Top in Nowshera, had occurred approximately a month ago. To facilitate the movement of vehicles during this closure, a culvert had been constructed. These officials also mentioned that efforts were currently underway to restore the highway to its previous condition.
In light of the situation, it was decided that all heavy and passenger vehicles should be redirected from Siot to the Kalakote-Rajouri route, while private and light motor vehicles would be rerouted from the Nowshera bridge onto the Beri-Pattan-Sunderbani road.
