Tata Projects, Micron partner for semiconductor plant in Gujarat

Tata Projects announced a strategic partnership with Micron Technology to undertake the construction of an advanced semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Sanand, Gujarat.

In a press release, Tata Projects emphasised that securing this contract underscores the company's expertise in executing large-scale, sustainable infrastructure projects within the Indian manufacturing sector.

This ambitious project is situated within the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation area in Chaarodi, Sanand, covering an extensive 93-acre plot of land.

The statement highlights the project's significance as the largest investment initiated under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). Phase 1 of the project will encompass the construction of a 500,000 square feet cleanroom space, with plans for it to be operational by late 2024.

Furthermore, the project will involve the creation of a groundbreaking dynamic random access memory (DRAM) and non-volatile flash memory (NAND) assembly and testing facility, a first of its kind in India.

Tata Projects has set its sights on employing state-of-the-art construction methods and techniques, including integrated engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) delivery through 4D Building Information Modelling (BIM) and hybrid modular accelerated construction.

The Sanand factory's design will adhere to LEED Gold Standards established by the Green Building Council, showcasing a commitment to environmentally responsible construction. The facility will also incorporate advanced water-saving technologies, further contributing to its sustainability goals.
