New offices, hotels above Sarai Kale Khan RapidX in Delhi

There are plans to construct a multilevel commercial complex encompassing retail spaces, offices, and hotels above the Sarai Kale Khan RapidX station. It is noteworthy that the Sarai Kale Khan RapidX station is the largest station within the Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS) and serves as a vital junction connecting all three corridors in the network: Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut, Delhi-Gurgaon-Alwar, and Delhi-Panipat. The execution of the RRTS project falls under the jurisdiction of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which has initiated a process for tendering the rights to the commercial spaces at the Sarai Kale Khan station. This is in accordance with transit-oriented development (TOD) policy norms. An NCRTC official stated, "NCRTC has issued an invitation for expressions of interest regarding the utilization of air rights above the Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor. The selected private partner will have the opportunity to explore commercial prospects within the framework of TOD." Since the proposed development is envisioned above the station and its tracks, it will ensure unobstructed access to the planned development. The Sarai Kale Khan station, distinguished as the largest facility featuring four tracks and five platforms, offers a substantial built-up area exceeding 50,000 square metres for property development. The same official mentioned that the planning and design of this RapidX station have been executed in a manner that caters to the anticipated one million individuals who are expected to converge at the Sarai Kale Khan transit hub daily. Consequently, the initial civil structure is under construction with the capacity to accommodate the expected foot traffic and load requirements for the planned TOD development.
