Green Ammonia Imported through VOC Port, Tamil Nadu

Traditionally, soda ash production relies on Grey Ammonia, but TFL has taken a bold step towards sustainability by importing Green Ammonia for a trial project. This eco-conscious initiative marks a significant shift in the industry towards greener alternatives. TFL plans to import 2000 metric tons of Green Ammonia this year, contingent upon its availability in the market.

The momentum didn't stop there. On September 24, 2023, V.O. Chidambaranar Port set a new record by handling a staggering 201,204 metric tons of cargo in a single day, surpassing the previous record of 200,642 metric tons achieved on August 26, 2023. This achievement demonstrates the port's dedication to facilitating trade and the seamless movement of goods.

The major cargoes that contributed to this remarkable feat included containers totaling 103,528 metric tons, thermal coal at 35,018 metric tons, industrial coal at 27,233 metric tons, limestone at 12,868 metric tons, sulphuric acid at 10,930 metric tons, and various other commodities amounting to 11,627 metric tons.

V.O. Chidambaranar Port's ability to handle such significant volumes efficiently showcases its vital role in the region's trade and commerce. The successful import of Green Ammonia adds to the port's reputation as a hub for sustainable and responsible trade practices.
