PNGRB is presently in the process of selecting an agency to conduct an in-depth study, focusing on the assessment of demand, supply dynamics, and the feasibility of enhancing the natural gas infrastructure across India. This initiative aligns with the broader efforts of the government to evaluate and, if necessary, refine the nation's energy infrastructure.
The appointed agency will shoulder the responsibility of scrutinizing various CGD networks and pipelines nationwide. Collaboration with all entities involved in City Gas Distribution (CGD), Natural Gas Pipeline (NGPL), and Petroleum Product Pipeline (PPPL) operations will be paramount. The primary aim is to compile comprehensive data encompassing natural gas pipelines, petroleum product pipelines, and existing CGD projects spanning the entire nation.
This concerted effort to assess and potentially improve India's natural gas infrastructure reflects the government's commitment to promoting cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. The envisioned increase in the share of natural gas in the energy mix holds the promise of contributing to India's energy security while also aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions. The results of this extensive review are eagerly awaited as they are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the nation's energy landscape for years to come.
