PMC transforms 20 localities into smart mohallas for Mahakumbh-2025

Chandramohan Garg, the municipal commissioner, highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance local facilities. He emphasised that the smart transformation of these localities would greatly enhance convenience for the residents. The selected areas encompass ten within the city, and five each along the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, including Daraganj, Allahpur, Salori, Shivkuti, Rasulabad, Gaughat, Arail, and Chhatnag, among others.
The PMC has already initiated the planning process, outlining the tasks to be accomplished under this initiative. Funding for the project will be allocated from the PMC's 15th financial account. Several of these areas hold historical significance, being associated with renowned literary figures, martyrs, and freedom fighters.
The 'Smart Mohallas' project involves a systematic approach, with houses in these localities being numbered sequentially. Furthermore, the streets and roads will undergo a uniform color scheme, adorned with informative displays about prominent literary figures and distinguished personalities from the city. To enhance aesthetics and safety, all overhead power lines will be relocated underground. The initiative also includes the installation of CCTV cameras for security surveillance. Additional funds will be allocated to facilitate the construction of sewer lines, provision of drinking water, road improvement, street lighting, and the establishment of open-air gyms. This holistic approach aims to transform these localities into model communities, ensuring a better quality of life for the residents.
