Train derailment in Bihar, 4 dead and 70 injured
On October 11, a tragic incident had taken place near Bihar's Buxar district, where six coaches of the Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express derailed. The event resulted in the loss of lives for at least four passengers, and approximately 70 others sustained injuries. The incident occurred at 9:53 pm when two AC III Tier coaches toppled over, and four other coaches veered off the tracks, as captured in television footage. According to Manish Kumar, Buxar Superintendent of Police, the casualties included four passengers who lost their lives, and 70 individuals who were injured. The injured were promptly taken to local hospitals for medical attention, and those with severe injuries were transported to AIIMS, Patna.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed his condolences for the lives lost and assured, "We will find the root cause of the derailment." He confirmed the completion of evacuation and rescue operations, with all coaches thoroughly inspected.
The 12506 North East Express, comprising 23 coaches, had started its journey from Delhi's Anand Vihar terminal at 7:40 am on October 11, aiming for its destination near Guwahati, Kamakhya, approximately 33 hours away.
