CtrlS Datacenters announced its ambitious investment plan of $2 billion (approximately Rs 16,600 crore) over the next six years. The company intends to bolster its hyperscale data centre capacity, double its workforce, and achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. Currently, CtrlS Datacenters operates 12 data centres with a total capacity of 234 MW, situated in major cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Noida, Lucknow, and Patna.
As part of this investment initiative, CtrlS plans to add around 350 MW of capacity across new and existing hyperscale and edge data centres in India and select Southeast Asian markets. This expansion strategy follows recent top management hires and reflects the company's commitment to growth and innovation.
With this expansion, CtrlS Datacenters anticipates hiring over 1,000 employees within the next six years. In addition to business expansion, CtrlS aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 through various initiatives. The company will invest in 153-megawatt Peak (MWp) solar projects spanning three markets, generating 2,50,000-Megawatt Hours (MWh) of energy annually. This includes a 145 MWp solar project in Maharashtra, fully owned and operated by the company. CtrlS also plans to invest in an additional 300 MWp of solar projects by 2025.
To attain its Net Zero goals, CtrlS Datacenters will adopt a comprehensive approach, encompassing more than just renewable energy. The company will focus on advanced water recycling technologies to conserve water, aiming for 100% usage of recycled water across all its data centres. This multi-pronged strategy underscores CtrlS's commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible business practices.
