Tata Power and Assam ink MoU for Guwahati EV network

The collaboration between EV Charging Solutions (TPEVCSL), a Tata Power Group Company, and the Assam government was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at introducing EV charging infrastructure in Guwahati.

The signing of the MoU occurred in the presence of Parimal Suklabaidya, Assam?s transport minister, excise & fisheries. Various dignitaries, including the Secretary of Transport to the Government of Assam, Adil Khan (IAS), and Rabin Kumar (IPS), the commissioner of transport-Assam, represented the state's highest officials. Also present were Virendra Goyal, Head of Business Development (EV Charging) at Tata Power, and key officials from the Transport Ministry.

During the event, Suklabaidya, remarked, ?In our collaboration with Tata Power, a leader in the electric charging sector, we are embodying our shared vision of advancing sustainability and improving the quality of life for the people of Assam. This initiative ensures not only cleaner and more sustainable transportation but also a significant improvement in the lives of our citizens.?

Tata Power claimed that it had captured a market share of nearly 60% in the EV charging sector. With a presence in over 420 cities and a wide range of charging solutions, Tata Power has supplied more than 59,000 home chargers, linked to the sales of its sister company, Tata Motors, which leads the market with the Nexon and Tiago EVs. The infrastructure includes 4,800 public and semi-public charging points and 430 bus charging stations.

Earlier in the year, Bridgestone India, an automotive products firm, collaborated with Tata Power to install EV chargers for four-wheelers at Bridgestone dealerships nationwide. These chargers are operational 24x7.
