Fatal Negligence: AMC Cancels Ambawadi Site Permit

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has revoked the development permission for the HR Exeter-2 construction site in Ambawadi following the tragic incident of a girl's death on Tuesday afternoon.

Upon inspecting the site after the accident, AMC officials discovered a complete absence of safety measures implemented by the company. Workers were not provided with essential safety equipment like helmets, and no arrangements were made to keep their children away from the construction zone.

Additionally, AMC has taken action against those responsible for enforcing safety measures during the construction. The licenses of engineer Chitrarth Parani, the clerk of works, and engineer Anjana Kumari Chaudhary, the supervisor of works on record (SOR), have been revoked for their failure to adhere to the General Development Control Regulations (GDCR) and the conditions stipulated in the development permit.

The developer/architect, Utsav Patel, and structural engineer, Bhargav D Patel, have been issued a notice requiring them to provide an explanation within seven days as to why their licenses should not be cancelled due to their non-compliance with GDCR provisions. The notice from AMC states that they have failed to implement necessary safety measures at the construction site, and their permission has been cancelled with immediate effect pending their response.
