Delhi Metro's expansions forge ahead, enhancing connectivity by 2024

The fourth phase of the Delhi Metro project is currently underway, with approval granted by DMRC to construct three additional corridors. Among these, two corridors are in the final stages of approval within the Union Urban Development Ministry, while the third project is set to expand to Kundli in Haryana. Consequently, the project details are to be revised accordingly.

The anticipated completion date for these endeavours is 2024. Progress has been made on three out of the four projects; covering a total distance of 65.10 km. Construction is ongoing along the Tughlakabad to Aerocity, Mukundpur to Maujpur, and Janakpuri West to RK Ashram corridors. Optimism surrounds the timely completion of the Mukundpur to Maujpur corridor by 2024, with the other two corridors slated for completion by 2025.

Delhi Metro's expansion initiatives continue, with pending approval for three corridors: Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block, Indralok to Indraprastha, and the Rithala ? Bawana ? Narela corridor. Notably, the Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block and Indralok to Indraprastha corridors are currently in the final stages of the approval process. Originally, there were plans for a metro line on the Narela route; however, a proposal has been made to reintroduce a regular metro system in consideration of the Narela Subcity plan.

Upon completion of these metro projects, commuters in Delhi will experience significant improvements in transportation. The metro network will directly connect areas such as Ballimaran, Indralok, Daya Basti, Sarai Rohilla, Nabi Karim, LNJP Hospital, and Daryaganj in Old Delhi. Furthermore, the introduction of direct connectivity between the Silver Line and Magenta Line will enhance transportation options. Additionally, residents of Faridabad will have the convenience of reaching Delhi Airport directly via the metro system, improving overall connectivity in the region.
