Central Railway achieves 1L automobiles transport Milestone

The railway's commendable performance in automobile loading is evident in achieving the one lakh milestone on November 15, 2023, marking a 36% increase compared to the corresponding period last year. In the previous fiscal year during the same timeframe, the authority recorded the loading of 74,168 automobiles in 613 rakes, earning Rs 941.9 million as revenue.

The success is attributed to the active engagement of Business Development Units (BDUs) at both zonal and divisional levels, which have collaborated with local industries, offering flexible schemes and garnering increased interest in rail transport.

The loading of automobiles for transportation has been carried out at various locations, including Kalamboli on Mumbai Division, Ajni on Nagpur Division, Nashik Road on Bhusaval Division, Daund and Vilad on Solapur Division, and Khadki, Chinchwad, Miraj, and Loni on Pune Division.

Top automobile companies such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Maruti Udyog, among others, regularly utilise the services of Central Railway for the transportation of their vehicles.

Pune Division leads the way with the loading of 79,136 automobiles in 491 rakes during the current period, compared to 49,945 automobiles in 381 rakes during the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year. Bhusaval Division follows with the loading of 18,224 automobiles in 183 rakes, up from 15,852 automobiles in 155 rakes the previous year.

Similarly, Solapur Division loaded 2,580 automobiles in 22 rakes, Nagpur Division loaded 1,203 automobiles in 8 rakes, and Mumbai Division loaded 300 automobiles in 4 rakes. The authority emphasises its commitment to facilitating the transportation needs of the automobile industry, reflecting outstanding performance in the current year.
