FIRST Construction Council to host "Project Management” event on Dec 6

The virtual event will provide valuable tips for companies to complete the projects on time within the budget.

Mumbai

Recently, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, which monitors infrastructure projects worth Rs 150 crore and above, noted that 411 infrastructure projects have been hit by cost overruns of more than Rs 4.31 trillion (17.39 per cent more than original cost) in October this year. Besides, 837 projects were delayed out of total 1,788 projects.

Reasons for time overruns, as reported by various project implementing agencies, include delay in land acquisition, delay in obtaining forest and environment clearances, and lack of infrastructure support and linkages. Delays in tie-up for project financing, finalisation of detailed engineering, change in scope, tendering, ordering and equipment supply, and law and order problems were among the other reasons.

Infrastructure development has always been a challenge due to a multitude of issues which impact these projects. Each project is unique and needs a structured approach to manage its complexity.

To meet India’s aim of reaching a $ 5 trillion economy by 2025, infrastructure development is the need of the hour. The government has launched the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) programme which intends to spend over Rs 100 trillion on various infrastructure projects.
Hence, timely completion of projects within the estimated budget will be crucial to accelerate India's infrastructure development.

To address these issues, FIRST Construction Council (FCC) - which organises conferences/award ceremonies like Construction World Architect & Builders Awards,  India Construction Festival, Metro Rail Conference, Infrastructure Today Conclave 2023, etc - is hosting a Virtual Discussion Forum on “Practical Tips for Effective Project Management” on Dec 6, 2023 (from 4 to 4.50 PM).

During the event, industry experts will discuss:
  • The importance of effective project management
  • Probable solutions to mitigate the risk of cost & time overrun
  • Latest technologies to be used for managing projects better
  • How to deliver business value by embracing right project management techniques and processes

Today, the business environment is dynamic with an accelerating rate of change, and the FIRST Construction Council event will provide valuable tips for companies to complete the projects on time within the budget.
