Defence Ministry signs MoU with BHEL for 16 upgraded gun mounts

It was disclosed that the upgraded SRGM, a medium-caliber anti-missile/anti-aircraft point defence weapon system, would be manufactured by BHEL at its Haridwar Plant. This system is designed to provide a sustained rate of fire and high accuracy. Additionally, it is capable of multiple engagements in multi-threat scenarios, boasting a proven record of excellent performance against missiles and highly maneuverable fast attack crafts.
The installation of the upgraded SRGMs on the Indian Navy's in-service and newly built ships will be carried out by Mazagaon Dock and Shipbuilders, Mumbai, and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, Kolkata. Over a period of five years, the project is expected to generate employment for two and a half lakh mandays. Furthermore, the initiative aims to actively involve various Indian industries, including MSME, significantly contributing to the Government's efforts to achieve 'Atmanirbharta' in defence.
