Chandigarh Admin Advocates Fully Underground Metro Network

The Chandigarh administration is pressing the Central government to consider the establishment of a fully underground metro network in the city. Advocating for this approach, officials aim to address urban planning concerns and enhance the efficiency and aesthetics of the metro system.

The proposal aligns with the vision to create a modern, seamlessly integrated, and visually unobtrusive public transportation solution for the residents of Chandigarh. The administration's push emphasises the potential benefits of an underground metro, such as minimising surface disruption, preserving green spaces, and ensuring a more aesthetically pleasing urban landscape. As discussions unfold, the focus remains on striking a balance between efficient transportation infrastructure and maintaining the city's unique architectural and environmental characteristics.
