Telangana's Regional Ring Road Upgraded to NH

In a significant move towards enhancing Telangana's infrastructure, the Centre has approved declaring the southern portion of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) in the state as a national highway. The decision follows a meeting between Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari held in Delhi where the matter was earnestly discussed.

Following the meeting, a state government release disclosed that "Soon after the meeting, the union minister instructed the NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) officials to prepare the proposals to declare the southern section of RRR as a national highway." This move underscores the commitment of both the state and central governments towards bolstering connectivity and infrastructure development in Telangana.

Apart from advocating for the RRR's national highway status, CM Revanth Reddy also appealed to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for permission to expand national highways in Telangana. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of upgrading several crucial state highways into national highways to facilitate smoother and more efficient transportation networks within the state.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy presented a comprehensive list of state roads earmarked for expansion into national highways, elucidating the pressing need for their elevation to NH status. The proposed expansion and upgrade of these roadways are expected to significantly enhance connectivity, spur economic growth, and improve overall infrastructure within Telangana.

This decision marks a milestone in Telangana's infrastructure development efforts, with the upgrade of the RRR to a national highway poised to unlock a myriad of socio-economic opportunities for the region. With the Centre's approval secured, stakeholders anticipate accelerated progress in the implementation of key infrastructure projects, reaffirming the government's commitment to fostering growth and development across the state.
