Ludhiana's 1,000 street lights upgraded with advanced tech

It was revealed that the lights would be installed in specific areas as part of the Smart City Mission, including BRS Nagar road, Hambran road, College Road, DMC road, Pakhowal road, Ghumar Mandi, OLD GT road, main Rahon road, Malhar Road to Hero Bakery chowk, Fountain Chowk to Rose Garden, Rani Jhansi Road, and others. The existing LED lights will be replaced with the new ones, and civic officials emphasized that this improved technology would contribute to energy conservation.
MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi stated, "Tata Projects Limited is supplying 1,000 advanced technology LED lights to the city, and we will be able to manage the new lights through our mobile phones." He highlighted the necessity for a significant number of street lights and mentioned ongoing efforts to enhance the situation. Manoj Kapoor from Tata Projects Limited mentioned that the lights, imported from Switzerland, would operate based on radar and environmental sensors, communicating with each other to adjust illumination as needed. The firm had already replaced 1.05 lakh street lights with LED lights under the Smart City Mission, and an additional 9,000 street lights were in the process of installation.
In addition, the LIT (presumably Ludhiana Improvement Trust) would install 500 LED street lights in various areas under the west constituency, as recommended by MLA Gurpreet Gogi. However, there was uncertainty among MC officials about the maintenance of these lights, given their installation in MC areas as well.
