PM Modi Launches Ambitious 550 Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is scheduled to lay the foundation for 550 Amrit Bharat stations on February 26, with the aim of enhancing railway facilities. This ambitious project, which includes the development of rooftop plazas and city centres, comes with a significant investment of Rs 400 bn. Concurrently, he will inaugurate the construction of nearly 1,500 road overbridges and underbridges during a virtual event that will span over 2,000 railway stations across the country.

As part of this event, approximately 50,000 school students who have participated in themed competitions will be honoured with prizes, an initiative organised by Indian Railways. The overarching goal of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is to improve station amenities, foster sustainability, and ensure smoother access for passengers by implementing high-level platforms across all station categories.

Presently, a total of 1,318 stations have been carefully selected under this scheme, chosen from proposals submitted by zonal railways, major cities, and towns across the nation.
