India's first green hydrogen plant inaugurated by Scindia

Jindal Stainless (JSL), one of the largest stainless steel players in India, inaugurated India's first green hydrogen plant on February 27, 2024. This plant is in Hisar, Haryana, and was inaugurated virtually by Union Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia.

According to officials, this plant is the first in India. "This project is a state-of-the-art green hydrogen facility with a target to reduce carbon emissions considerably by around 2,700 metric tonne per annum and 54,000 tonne CO2 emissions over 20 years."

In August 2022, Abhyuudav Jindal, JSL Managing Director, announced plans to set up a green hydro-plant in partnership with Hygenco India. "As a first, the green hydrogen plant will catalyse our transition from thermal to clean energy in the Indian manufacturing space. We will continue our ESG (environmental, social and governance) efforts to achieve net zero emissions and power conservation.?
