Minister surveys Valankulam lake zone in Coimbatore

Tourism Minister K Ramachandran declared in Coimbatore that Tamil Nadu holds the second position in India for foreign tourist visits, trailing Uttar Pradesh, and claims the top spot for local tourist visits. He expressed the ongoing efforts to elevate the state's status across all categories, stating, Work is in progress to make the state numero uno in all categories.

During his visit to Valankulam lake in the city on Saturday, the minister examined the site, aiming to identify an alternative location for the construction of a boat house. Later, when addressing the media, Ramachandran conveyed, Various activities are being carried out to promote tourism in Tamil Nadu. I am happy to reveal that Tamil Nadu?s tourism sector is growing, and it ranks second in India in terms of foreign tourist visits after UP and first in local tourist visits.

He attributed this success to the guidance of the Tamil Nadu chief minister, emphasizing their commitment to making Tamil Nadu the number one state in all tourism categories. Additionally, he highlighted the positive impact on employment for local residents due to the thriving tourism sector.

Providing details about the proposed boat house, Ramachandran mentioned, A study was conducted by the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) regarding the construction of a boat house at an alternative location in the Valankulam area for the benefit of tourists. Following the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR), the boat house will be established at an alternate location, equipped with proper parking and all other facilities, including necessary basic amenities.

The event, presided over by Coimbatore collector Kranthi K Pati, included the participation of CCMC Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar, Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran, CCMC Central Zone Chairperson Meena Logu, council member Suma V, Executive Engineer Karuppasamy, and other attendees.
