ICCC nears completion of the Shillong smart city plan

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, is funding the Shillong Smart City Project, which includes the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). The project is expected to be completed soon, and the total amount allotted for the ICCC is Rs 1.51 billion, contrary to a social media post that claims Rs 1.5 billion is for 300 CCTVs.

The PAN City, which is being implemented as part of the Shillong Smart City project, is made up of the Radio Frequency Network (RF NW), Data Centre (DC), ICCC Building, and Additional Software.

The installation of field devices, which include CCTV cameras (for surveillance and traffic management) (368); emergency call boxes (ECB); public address systems (PAS); variable message displays (VMDs); streetlights (LED or Smart Lights with Light Point Controller, LPC); public Wi-Fi hotspots; GPS-based vehicle tracking for Solid Waste Management (SWM) vehicles; and smart bins, are some of the major technological advancements that Shillong city will witness.

The ICCC, which is supposed to be the brains behind city operations and planning, will act as the focal point for a number of municipal tasks, including data processing, emergency response coordination, surveillance, and smart city applications.
