West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched a comprehensive survey to identify eligible beneficiaries for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in the state. The initiative aims to ensure that deserving individuals receive housing assistance under the central government scheme.
The survey will cover both rural and urban areas, focusing on identifying households that meet the eligibility criteria for PMAY. The objective is to create an updated and accurate database of potential beneficiaries to facilitate the efficient distribution of housing aid. Local authorities have been tasked with conducting door-to-door visits to collect necessary data, ensuring a thorough and inclusive approach.
The CM emphasised the importance of transparency and fairness in the selection process. She urged officials to prioritise genuine cases, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended recipients without any bias or favouritism. The state government has also set up a helpline for residents to inquire about the survey and seek assistance.
Mamata Banerjee reiterated her commitment to improving housing conditions for the underprivileged, highlighting the government?s ongoing efforts to provide affordable housing. The survey is part of a broader strategy to enhance living standards and reduce homelessness across West Bengal.
The initiative has been welcomed by residents, who see it as a step towards achieving housing security. Community leaders have expressed hope that the survey will address the housing needs of marginalised groups and lead to substantial improvements in their living conditions.
The state government plans to complete the survey within a stipulated timeframe and begin the allocation of housing units promptly. The survey's findings will play a crucial role in shaping future housing policies and ensuring that the PMAY benefits the most deserving individuals.
