NDMC Approves Plan to Procure 200 MW of Solar Power
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has approved a proposal to procure 200 MW of solar power to address electricity shortages. This decision was made during a council meeting, where various agenda items were discussed and approved.
Before the meeting commenced, NDMC Vice-chairperson Satish Upadhyay administered oaths to newly elected MP Bansuri Swaraj, who joined as a member of the NDMC, and newly appointed Chairperson Naresh Kumar.
The council gave its approval to procure 200 MW of solar power through the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), utilising its ISTS Tranche-XI for a long-term allocation of 25 years. The tariff for this solar power, determined through Tariff-based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) and based on Standard Bidding Guidelines (SBG) issued by the Ministry of Power, is set at Rs 2.61 per kWh, with an additional Rs 0.07 per kWh for SECI's trading margin.
NDMC member Kuljeet Singh Chahal stated that the council has arranged for 525 MW of electricity per day from various sources, including solar systems, hydro plants, and other power plants. He mentioned that the NDMC procures 100 MW of electricity from the Delhi government's Bawana and Himadir plants, which are part of Pragati Power Corporation Limited-I and III, respectively.
