Gurugram to Launch Real-Time Waste Collection App in August

A research team from a private university in Gurugram has been tasked with identifying features to enhance the app's efficiency and transparency in waste management. Their findings, expected within 15 days, will be reviewed and potentially modified before the app is finalized.
"The new app will offer detailed information about the waste collection schedule and vehicle routes, along with details about the driver and helper for each vehicle," said MCG Joint Commissioner Naresh Kumar. The app will also send alerts to MCG officials if a vehicle deviates from its assigned route, enhancing accountability.
Residents will be able to create accounts using their property IDs, lodge complaints directly through the app, and receive alerts if waste is not collected. The app will monitor vehicle tyre pressure and record the amount of waste dumped at disposal stations.
Despite previous efforts, such as the Swachh Map app launched in 2016, waste management remains a persistent issue in Gurugram, with over 300 daily complaints about uncollected waste. The new app aims to address these challenges and ensure more reliable waste management across the city.
