South India's First Double-Decker Flyover Opens for Trial Run

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy and other officials also participated in the event. Constructed by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) at a cost of Rs 4.49 billion, the flyover is currently open for vehicular movement on only one side.
The Central Silk Board Junction, intersecting both the Outer Ring Road and Hosur Road, is the busiest junction in Bengaluru, notorious for its traffic congestion. The rail-cum-road flyover aims to alleviate this congestion, featuring loops and ramps to ensure a smoother flow of traffic from Ragigudda to Central Silk Board.
BMRCL stated, "The rail-cum-road flyover from Ragigudda to Central Silk Board is complete along with loops and ramps of length 5.12 km. It facilitates signal-free travel from Ragigudda to HSR Layout and Hosur Road, saving time by more than 30 percent."
The ramps from HSR Layout connecting to the road flyover towards Ragigudda and BTM Layout, spanning 1.37 km, are still under construction and expected to be completed by June 2025.
This rail-cum-road flyover is a testament to Bengaluru's innovative infrastructure efforts, according to BMRCL.
