New terminal to open at Vijayawada Airport before year end

The announcement was made during the inauguration of IndiGo's new flight service from Vijayawada to Mumbai, flight no. 6E 943, by Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry, who also serves as the Chairman of the Airport Authority. The event was attended by MLA Yarlagadda Venkata Rao, MLA Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao of Thiruvuru, and other dignitaries.

In his remarks, Chinni emphasised the commitment to improving connectivity for the capital region, stating that Vijayawada Airport is poised for substantial growth with the introduction of new flight services. He highlighted that Air India had launched a Mumbai service two months ago, and now IndiGo has expanded its offerings with a similar route.

Chinni also mentioned recent discussions with Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu, facilitated by MP Balashowry, focusing on expanding flight connectivity across the country to meet the demands of passengers in the capital region.

Furthermore, Chinni announced the commencement of IndiGo?s Vijayawada-Delhi flight service on September 14, and ongoing efforts to develop a cargo terminal at Gannavaram Airport.

MP Balashowry underscored the rapid development of Vijayawada Airport under the TDP-led NDA government and expressed optimism that the new terminal would pave the way for international flight services, thereby boosting the region's connectivity and trade potential. Sivanath extended his gratitude to Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and IndiGo for their efforts in meeting the region's needs. (TNIE)
