Central Government Approves Bangalore Metro Phase 3 DPR

The central government has given approval to the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Bangalore Metro Phase 3, which spans a distance of 44.65 kilometres and is estimated to cost Rs 156.11 billion.

Bangalore Metro Phase 3 Funding The funding for Phase 3 of the Bangalore Metro has been finalised by various institutions and authorities.

Seamless Integration As reported by the Press Information Bureau, Phase 3 of the Bangalore Metro will include the development of 10 metro stations as multi-modal hubs. These hubs will offer interchanges with both existing and under-construction metro stations. Additionally, eleven key stations in this phase will be equipped with facilities designed to enhance commuter convenience, such as bus bays, auto rickshaw stands, and parking areas.

The existing Phase 1 and Phase 2 metro lines will be integrated with the advanced Phase 3, which will involve the construction of skywalks to provide direct connectivity between metro stations and nearby railway stations.

Recently, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) awarded four contracts for geotechnical investigations related to Phase 3. Both the approval of the DPR and the geotechnical investigation are expected to significantly accelerate the development of Phase 3.
