RRTS Prepares to Enter Delhi at Anand Vihar, Trial Run Starts in November
As a significant transit hub utilized by a large number of commuters, the Anand Vihar station will provide seamless integration with the Delhi Metro, Indian Railways, and various intercity and intra-city bus networks. The Delhi segment of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor includes a 9-kilometer elevated viaduct and a 5-kilometer underground section.
With the viaduct construction completed, work is progressing swiftly on track laying, overhead electrification, and signaling. Officials from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which is executing the project, indicated that the trial run for the Namo Bharat train on the Sahibabad to Anand Vihar stretch is anticipated to start by November. The 14-kilometer section includes Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar RRTS stations, all of which are approaching completion, while the development of the Jangpura station and its stabling yard will follow later.
Notably, the Anand Vihar station will be the only underground RRTS station, situated one level below ground. This distinctive design aims to facilitate smooth passenger movement between different modes of transport. Additionally, the station will feature pick-up and drop-off points for vehicles and is connected to Chaudhary Charan Singh Marg by three bridges over the Ghazipur drain, designated for entry, exit, and pedestrian use.
