Low Occupancy on Secunderabad-Nagpur Express

Train No. 20102, which operates daily between Secunderabad and Nagpur, has seen a daily vacancy rate of 80%, with only around 240 seats occupied out of its total capacity of 1,440. Even in its two executive class coaches, with a seating capacity of 88, less than 10 passengers have booked tickets. This low turnout has left railway authorities concerned, especially since other Vande Bharat Express trains operating from Secunderabad to Bengaluru, Chennai, and Visakhapatnam have been recording high demand, with occupancy rates between 90% and 100%.

The Secunderabad-Nagpur Vande Bharat Express covers the distance in 7 hours and 15 minutes, stopping at Kazipet, Ramagundam, Balharshah, Chandrapur, and Sevagram. Despite offering a fully air-conditioned travel experience with 20 coaches, including two executive class and 18 chair car coaches, the response from passengers has been dismal.

Railway officials have indicated that if the low demand persists, the number of coaches might be reduced from 20 to 8, bringing the seating capacity down to over 500 seats.
