Gujarat Approves Rs 255 Crore for Roads
In the last four years, the state government has sanctioned Rs 961.47 crore for road projects across Surat, Rajkot, and Gandhinagar. Surat alone has seen Rs 740.85 crore allocated for 1,493 projects, while Rajkot received Rs 168.94 crore for 29 projects, and Gandhinagar Rs 57.68 crore for seven projects. This latest approval by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will further accelerate urban road development in these key cities.
Additionally, the Union government launched the Border Roads Network Action Plan (BRNAP) in June 2024 to strengthen infrastructure along the 512-km International Border with Pakistan, focusing on a 100-km stretch in Gujarat. This initiative aims to improve the operational efficiency of troops stationed near the border, particularly in areas prone to drug smuggling. The plan includes a 50-km stretch from Border Post 921 to 1175 and another 50 km from 1175 to Sir Mouth and coastal areas, ensuring enhanced security along critical points of the border.
