Noida Airport completes calibration flight for navigation systems
According to the airport, the calibration process, initiated on October 10, was carried out by a Beech King Air 360ER aircraft from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and concluded on October 14. The calibration was supported by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to ensure compliance with safety standards.
“This calibration marks a significant milestone toward operational readiness, guaranteeing the highest safety standards for aircraft operations,” NIA said in a statement on X.
The ILS provides precise guidance to pilots during approach and landing, especially in low visibility conditions, ensuring smooth operations and minimising delays. The PAPI system, comprising runway-adjacent lights, offers visual cues to pilots, helping them maintain the correct descent angle during final approach.
This successful calibration brings the airport closer to its operational launch. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Jewar Airport on November 26, 2021, with the airport expected to become operational later this year—two years ahead of Indira Gandhi International Airport reaching its capacity limits.
Strategically located, Noida International Airport lies about 72 km from IGI Airport, 52 km from Noida, 130 km from Agra, and 90 km from the Multi-Modal Logistics Hub in Dadri.
