Rajasthan government plans to develop hi-tech city near Jaipur

On the lines of Gujarat International Finance Tech (GIFT) City and Hyderabad Information Technology and Engineering Consultancy (HITEC) City, Raj govt is gearing up to develop a "hi-tech city" close to Jaipur.

Recently, Boston Consulting Group – a multinational consulting firm – gave a presentation on the concept of hi-tech cities, follwing which the state govt has started looking for suitable land on outskirts of Jaipur.

"We are going to construct a hi-tech city on the outskirts of Jaipur. We are trying to ascertain the amount of land required for core areas of the city and for areas where peripheral development would take place. Accordingly, we are going to select the parcels of land," Vaibhav Galriya, secretary of urban development and housing (UDH) department, told TOI . In the State Budget for 2024-25, finance minister Diya Kumar had announced a hi-tech city on outskirts of Jaipur. The state govt then roped in the multinational consulting firm to understand the basic concept of a hi-tech city.

"A hi-tech city means a base for various technology industries, like information technology, artificial intelligence, cyber security, etc. The core area of the proposed city would have all features and facilities relevant to these types of industries. Buffer zones will be for residential projects and other amenities. We will make the township as self-sufficient as possible," Galriya added.

Officials said they are conducting surveys at places like Phagi, Chaksu, Agra Road, and Delhi Road to identify land. "We may allot govt land, or pool private land," Galriya said.
