Indore to Demolish 31 Brick Kilns for MR-12 Road Project

The Indore Development Authority (IDA) is in the process of constructing the 9.4 km MR-12 road, linking the Bypass to Ujjain Road. However, only 3.5 km of the road has been completed so far due to various obstacles. The district administration has formed teams and issued notices to remove the 31 brick kilns located in the Shakarkhedi and Bhangya areas. Although the kiln operators requested a three-month extension, the administration allowed only seven days for their relocation.
Once the kilns are removed, construction will continue on the remaining 3 km stretch in the Kailod Hala, Shakarkhedi, and Bhangya areas. Additionally, a 100-metre long and 60-metre wide bridge will be built over the Kahn river, and a 700-metre long railway over-bridge (ROB) will be constructed at the Kailod Hala railway crossing.
The IDA CEO, RP Ahirwar, stated that the completed MR-12 road will connect the Bypass to Ujjain Road via AB Road, which will help reduce traffic congestion on MR-10 and in the city.
The removal of the brick kilns has posed a significant challenge, as many individuals rely on them for their livelihood. However, senior administrative officials explained that the administration has managed to balance the need for a reasonable relocation timeline with the urgency of completing the essential road project on time.
The MR-12 road is expected to facilitate the large influx of devotees anticipated for the Ujjain Simhastha 2028, and local authorities aim to finish its construction by next year.
