Indore Metro Services Expected to Launch by February 2025

Indore's metro services are likely to commence in February 2025, as the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) finalises the submission of documents to the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for approval. After receiving the CMRS green light, commercial operations are expected to begin soon.

The first phase of the metro rail will operate on the 5.90 km priority corridor between Gandhi Nagar station and station three on the Super Corridor. Although the route currently has a scattered population, the metro is expected to attract more passengers once it expands. Initially, the metro will run with three-coach trains, each capable of carrying 300 passengers.

The metro project’s cost is Rs 7,500.80 crore, covering a ring-shaped corridor of 31.50 km in the city. The official noted that stations are designed to accommodate six-coach trains, with additional coaches added as demand increases.
