Noida Authority Recovers Rs 4.8 Billion Floodplain from Encroachers

The Noida Authority, in coordination with the district administration, reclaimed over 150 acres of floodplain land along the Hindon River in a large-scale eviction drive. The land, located in Sorkha village and valued at approximately Rs 4.8 billion, had been illegally occupied by colonisers who constructed boundary walls and plotted the area for unauthorised sales.

Following a tip-off, Authority officials conducted a site inspection before launching the demolition operation with police support. Over 50 personnel from work circle-6 participated, completing the drive in around three hours. Officials noted that the recovered land is prone to flooding during the monsoon season.

Reiterating an earlier advisory, CEO Lokesh M warned the public against purchasing land in such areas without verifying its legal status. He emphasised that unauthorised transactions often lead to financial losses, as the Authority reclaims encroached properties.

Separately, the Authority sealed an unauthorised multi-story building in Wajidpur village, constructed on notified land already acquired by the Authority. Despite multiple notices and a status quo order from the Allahabad High Court in August 2024, illegal construction continued. The encroachers' subsequent appeal was rejected in November 2024 after thorough examination.

The Noida Expressway police have been tasked with monitoring the sealed premises. Meanwhile, the Authority has identified over 200 unauthorised structures in the region and is preparing for further legal actions, including demolition and sealing operations.
