Amazon Web to Invest Rs 600 Bn in Telangana for Expansion
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu met with senior AWS executives at the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
"AWS will make significant investments in Hyderabad, with plans to expand its data centres by investing approximately Rs 60,000 crore. The Hyderabad AWS Region will play a crucial role in the expansion of AWS cloud services in India, including AI advancements in the future," the state government noted in a press release.
The AWS delegation was led by Michael Punke, Vice President of Global Public Policy. The discussions focused on Telangana's supportive role in fostering a conducive environment for the establishment of data centre infrastructure, with Telangana emerging as a key hub for AWS operations in India.
Previously, AWS had announced plans to invest $4.4 billion by 2030 to build its cloud infrastructure in Telangana. To date, three data centres have been operationalised with investments totalling around $1 billion. AWS has requested the allocation of additional land for its expansion, which the state government has agreed to facilitate.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his satisfaction with the growing confidence of global businesses like Amazon, noting that the state's vision of TelanganaRising is bearing fruit.
Minister Sridhar Babu stated that with AWS's expansion, Hyderabad is set to become India's leading data centre hub, solidifying the state’s role in supporting Telangana’s digital ambitions.
