Railways Seek Bids for 500 MW RTC Renewable Power

The bidding deadline is February 25, 2025, and submissions will be opened on February 27, 2025. Developers must quote a minimum of 100 MW for the projects, to be built on a build-own-operate basis.

Project Specifications The project scope includes setting up renewable energy facilities, securing required land, and establishing a dedicated transmission network. Developers must use type-certified wind turbine models and solar modules from approved manufacturers.
Projects must be commissioned within 24 months of award, ensuring a minimum annual power availability of 75% for the first three years and 85% thereafter. Non-compliance will result in damages at 200% of the tariff for shortfall energy.
Financial & Technical Criteria Turnover Requirement: ?48 million (~?5.6 crore)/MW in the last financial year. Excess energy may be sold to third parties or power exchanges, offering flexibility in operations. Background REMCL, a joint venture of the Ministry of Railways (49%) and RITES (51%), has been proactive in renewable energy initiatives. Recently, it also invited bids for feasibility studies and detailed project reports for solar projects across multiple states.
This bid is a step toward sustainable energy integration in India’s railway operations, underscoring its commitment to renewable energy advancements.
