Mumbaikars Await 5 Key Projects as Coastal Road Opens

Of the 111 hectare of land reclaimed for the coastal development, 70 hectare were designated for creating green areas, including gardens, cycling tracks, amphitheaters, and other amenities. The plan also includes a 7.5-km-long promenade, similar to Marine Drive, which is expected to become a new leisure destination for both citizens and tourists.
However, despite the progress in the first phase, which has improved traffic conditions, the development of the promised green spaces and additional facilities will take at least two more years to complete. The BMC has yet to appoint an agency for the landscaping work, and other components such as bus bays, pedestrian underpasses, the promenade, and the greening of medians are still pending.
The MCRP has recently marked a significant milestone with the completion of the bowstring arch bridge. The BMC continues to work towards the completion of the remaining aspects of the first phase.
