BBMP Eases Trade License Renewal in Bengaluru

Businesses renewing their licenses before February 28, 2025, will avoid penalties. Those applying between March 1 and March 31, 2025, will face a 25% penalty, while renewals after April 1, 2025, will incur a 100% penalty. This structured penalty system aims to encourage timely compliance and reduce administrative bottlenecks.

Restrictions on Residential Area Businesses The BBMP has banned trade license renewals for businesses operating in residential zones with roads narrower than 40 feet. This move is aimed at reducing congestion and maintaining residential integrity. Additionally, businesses in unauthorized structures or violating building norms will be denied renewal, ensuring adherence to urban planning regulations.

Sustainability and Waste Management Focus Businesses generating over 100 kg of waste daily must show proof of waste processing or have agreements with authorized waste management vendors. Compliance with the state’s plastic ban and waste disposal rules is now mandatory. The BBMP has also assigned a dedicated team of health officers to oversee renewals, ensuring adherence to environmental and public health standards.
