BMC Unveils Record Rs 744.27 Billion Budget for 2025-26

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), India’s wealthiest civic body, has presented its highest-ever budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, amounting to Rs 744.27 billion. The budget, which reflects a 14.19% increase from the Rs 651.8 billion allocated in 2024-25, was presented by additional municipal commissioners to BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani at the civic headquarters.

For the third consecutive year, the budget was presented to an administrator instead of a standing committee, following the end of corporators' terms on March 7, 2022.

As of December 31, 2024, the BMC had collected Rs 283.08 billion in revenue. The projected revenue income for 2025-26 is Rs 431.59 billion, reflecting a 20.73% rise from the revised estimate of 2024-25.
