Ghaziabad Plans Rs 3.77 Billion Infrastructure Overhaul
The Indirapuram township, taken over from the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) in September 2024, will see major enhancements, including Rs 500 million each for drainage and roads, Rs 200 million for water supply, and Rs 250 million for sewer lines. The civic body has already received Rs 1.1 billion from GDA and initiated tenders accordingly.
For air quality, Rs 710 million will be utilized for road repairs, greenery expansion, and mechanized sweeping. Despite prior spending of Rs 1.36 billion in the past two years, Ghaziabad remains a "non-attainment" city, struggling with pollution. Critics argue the corporation should align projects with CPCB's pollution control plan to address persistent air quality issues.
Additionally, Rs 1.06 billion will be used for development in various wards, with Rs 150 million earmarked for household water connections.
