Welspun Michigan Engineers Wins Rs 3.28 Billion Haji Ali Pumping Station Upgrade

Welspun Michigan Engineers (WMEL), in a joint venture with Aaradhyaa & Co, has secured a Rs 3.28 billion (bn) contract from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to upgrade the Haji Ali Storm Water Pumping Station in Mumbai. WMEL holds a 75 per cent stake in the JV.

The project, to be completed in 18 months (excluding monsoons), includes mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation, and civil repair works, along with a 15-year operations and maintenance phase.

This marks WMEL’s second major pumping station order after the February 2025 Mogra Storm Water Pumping Station contract. With this addition, WMEL’s order book now stands at Rs 29.15 bn.

Saurin Patel, MD, WMEL, said, “This project will provide significant flood relief to South and Central Mumbai while strengthening the city’s drainage system.”
