Canal Water Boost for Mudki
In a significant push for public health and urban development, MLA Rajneesh Dahiya has announced a Rs.280 million canal water supply project for Mudki town in the Ferozepur Rural constituency. The initiative aims to provide clean drinking water to every household within Mudki’s municipal limits.
Speaking about the development, Dahiya said the project falls under the Centre’s AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme and is being carried out with the support of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Local Government Minister Dr. Inderbir Nijjar.
“This initiative will drastically improve drinking water quality by supplying fresh canal water, rich in natural minerals, to over 2,500 homes,” said Dahiya. He added that the foundation stone of the project is expected to be laid next month.
The project will be completed in two phases and includes a 12-kilometer pipeline from the Sirhind Canal to a new water treatment plant on the Faridkot-Mudki road. Additionally, a 33-kilometer distribution network will be installed to ensure water reaches every corner of the town.
Spanning over 3.5 acres, the water treatment plant will purify the canal water to make it suitable for drinking, ensuring both health and convenience for residents.
Dahiya held a meeting with SDO Gulshan Grover of the Water Supply and Sewerage Board to review the project’s planning and execution. Emphasizing his commitment to the region’s growth, he also noted that a multi-million rupee sewerage project is already in progress in Mudki, expected to resolve long-standing sanitation challenges.
